David is Chief Executive of Margaret Pyke Trust, a global NGO linking human health, biodiversity conservation and climate action to achieve better outcomes for people and planet. He leads the Trust’s work within the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), where he has successfully advanced the recognition of reproductive choice and One Health in global biodiversity policy, including both One Health motions adopted at the recent World Conservation Congress. He co-chairs IUCN’s Biodiversity & Family Planning Task Force and contributes to several of IUCN’s expert commissions. David has developed and led pioneering projects that integrate health service provision with conservation action in South Africa, Uganda and Ghana, showing how cross-sector collaboration improves both community wellbeing, health outcomes and environmental outcomes. Before joining the Margaret Pyke Trust, he advised the Endangered Wildlife Trust on integrating reproductive health and conservation action in South Africa, where he also qualified as a field guide. In a former career, he practised law in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Hong Kong and South Africa. His career reflects a commitment to connecting disciplines that rarely work together, driving innovation at the intersection of health and the environment.
