This workshop, co-hosted by FHI 360, the Harvard Medical School Program in Global Primary Health Care, the Praboromarajchanok Institute of the Thai Ministry of Public Health, and the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA) will present a rich exploration of the goals and ongoing work of the Lancet Global Health Commission on People-Centered Care for Universal Health Coverage and other organizations. The Commission (which officially launched in October 2024 and convened in January 2025) brings together 34 diverse commissioners and 15 advisers and aims to co-produce definitions, measurements, and implementation strategies that deeply center the lived experiences of individuals and communities in health system design and policymaking.

The session will feature concrete case studies of people-centered care drawn from NGOs, public health systems, and innovative providers in the Asia Pacific region, demonstrating how responsiveness and inclusiveness manifest in practice across different contexts and populations, including aging populations. In keeping with the Commission’s focus on meaningful engagement at every stage of its work, participants will be invited not only to learn from these examples but also to contribute their own perspectives—ensuring they inform the evolving research agenda, working group deliberations, and recommendations that the Commission will publish by 2027.

  • To share and discuss advances in people-centered care in various global health settings, including the on-going work of the Lancet Global Health Commission on People-Centered Care for Universal Health Coverage.
