Dr. Poruan Temu is the Country Representative for FHI 360 in Papua New Guinea and the FHI360's Digital Technology Advisor for Strategy & Resource Mobilization, where he leads global efforts to integrate digital innovation into health and development programs. Formerly FHI 360’s Sub-Regional Director for the Pacific, he has over a decade of experience leading complex, multi-country programs across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. His work focuses on strengthening primary healthcare, surveillance, and laboratory systems, and advancing the integration of climate and health strategies and AI into resilient, people-centered health systems. Dr. Temu played a foundational role in developing Papua New Guinea’s National Digital Health Strategies and serves as a key advisor to government and regional partners on digital transformation and governance. He also currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert in Digital Health under the UK-FCDO–funded ASEAN Health Security Partnership and represents Papua New Guinea as Vice Chair of the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism and member of the Western Pacific Regional Constituency. Alongside his public sector leadership, Dr. Temu has also driven digital innovation in the private sector—introducing 3D printing and IoT infrastructure for smart health, agriculture, and city solutions. A trained physician with a Master’s in Information Technology (eHealth), he has published on disease modeling and health systems design and is widely recognized for advancing sustainable, locally led, and technology-enabled approaches to health and development across the region.
