SRIROMI MADUWAGE MBBS, MSC, MD (COMMUNITY MEDICINE) Public Health Specialist, Ministry of Health Sri Lanka Board certified Public Health Specialist by the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. A senior Public Health Specialist (Community Medicine) with extensive work experience in public health programmes with a special focus on Elderly & Disability care related to policy, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation at National, Provincial level and international level. Leading role on improving accessibility facilities and assistive technologies for older persons with disabilities. Expert in implementation of Integration of Care of Older Persons at primary care settings. Under United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing recognized as one of a first ever healthy ageing 50 world leaders transforming the world to be a better space to grow older. Technical lead in adaptation and preparation of WHO prioritized assistive devices and assistive technology list for the older persons with disabilities. Successful completion of Implementation of many community-based programme for older persons including capacity enhancement project for older persons in collaboration with JICA and conducting community-based sensitization programme for youth on healthy ageing. Technical lead in developing Elderly Health Policy and National Policy for Elderly 2025. Technical lead in implementation of retirement seminars on healthy ageing island wide. Developing strategic frame work and results based framework on elderly health care with a special focus on integrated care, strengthening of primary health care reforms at Sri Lanka. Developing health care guidelines and standards for disabled elders at elderly homes and training manual development for the training of caregivers on health care provision at community level. Working experience and budget handling in partnership with UN donor agencies for public health programme. Extensive public health experience, while working as a Medical Officer of Health. Visiting lecturer, supervisor and an examiner for undergraduate and post graduate medical education. A researcher with many publications. Obtaining United Nation work experience as a public health consultant to WHO Regional office South East Asia, on Healthy Ageing. Public Health working experience at Department, National Health Services, Somerset, United Kingdom. Experience in representing the country as a key note speaker and being the conference chair for many national ,international conferences on ageing and aged care. Currently working as the Consultant Community Physician / Public Health Specialist in the field of elderly and disability care attached to the directorate of Youth, Elderly and Disability, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka with 23 years of service experience in the public health field.
