Keisuke Shimizu is the Chief of Family Medicine at Izu Health and Medical Center, a public hospital in rural Japan. He is specialized in General Medicine, which is a newly established specialty in Japan to tackle issues associated population aging and other social changes. He provides medical care in hospital wards and outpatient clinics, and also provides home medical care to support people’s life including older ones. Additionally, he works together with community residents, the local government and academia to build a liveable community leading to “aging in place.” In 2025, he earned a Ph.D. degree in Medicine from Juntendo University in his research on Thai aging population and caregiver burden.
